They find safety and have ability to rebuild their lives in Boise. We recognize that in these challenging times, donations are harder to make, but they are still needed, so thank you for making the difference in a refugee’s life!

3/31/2010: Das Fraulein Screening Please join us on March 31st at 7:00 pm at the Flicks Theatre for a special screening of the film Das Fraulein.
Das Fraulein gazes intimately into the lives of 3 women from former Yugoslavia who now live in Switzerland. Ruža left Belgrade more than 25 years ago to seek a new life in Zurich. Now in her fifties, she has completely detached herself from the past. She owns a cafeteria and maintains an orderly, joyless existence. Mila, a waitress there, is a good-humored Croatian woman who also emigrated decades ago, but, unlike Ruža, she dreams of returning to a house on the Croatian coast.
Both of them receive a jolt when Ana, a young, itinerant woman who has fled Sarajevo, breezes into the cafeteria looking for work. Ruža hires her but is annoyed by Ana's impulsive and spirited efforts to inject life into the cafeteria. Gradually the acrimony will dissipate, as Ana, who hides a tragic secret under her passionate spirit, begins to thaw Ruža's chill, and their relationship will change both women in ways they never anticipated. It is an exploration of physical and emotional displacement, as more and more people move between cultures and countries, in the increasingly borderless world.
Tickets are $12. To reserve your ticket click here or email Keziah.sullivan@theIRC.org
Tickets can also be purchased at the Flicks Theatre.
