History

As the name implies the park honors our nation's veterans. It is a popular site for ceremonies, and a number of plaques and memorials commemorate veterans, including America's first POW memorial.

This 78-acre Idaho state park is located along the north side of the Boise River. Within its tranquil setting, strollers and bike riders can enjoy the small lakes and ponds near the river. The park connects with Boise's Greenbelt. The park is open for day use year-round. There is no camping.

Veterans Memorial State Park is undergoing a major overhaul, and the end product will be fabulous. Enhancements include a Veterans’ Memorial, playground, picnic shelters, a new amphitheater, and a natural environmental studies area with nature trails. This work is being put together through the city and the Veterans Park Neighborhood Association (VPNA).
