Girls on Track Coming to North JHS
Girls on Track, a program for 6th-8th grade girls is coming to North Jr. High in Boise this March.
Girls on Track is the middle school curriculum of Girls on the Run and is a non-competitive, after school program for junior high girls that creatively combines training for a 5K running event with activities and experiences which in-power girls to honor their bodies, voices and gifts and in doing so, activate their Power. Girls on Track is not just about running; it’s about moving. The girls run, walk, skip, hop, and saunter their way through games and activities, while learning about themselves, teamwork and the community. The coaches aren’t there to make the girls great runners; they are there to encourage the girls to do their best, love who they are, and believe in themselves.
Sites begin March 8th and meet after school, twice a week, for ten weeks, with no meetings during Spring Break. At the end of the season the girls are encouraged to participate in a community 5K to celebrate their accomplishments. Registration fees are based on a sliding scale of household income.
