Social Networking Intro

Dave Green

The world of "social networking" and "social media" includes many types of forms but the essence of what makes it tick is simple. Both forms are "user-driven", interactive types of media that utilize the Internet to connect people together based on shared interests as opposed to connecting people solely on their individual interests.

I think that is a major distinction between traditional web communications or email and social media. Some would like to think that social media sites like Facebook could replace traditional websites - that would be a huge mistake. That would be like going from being a shepard to someone herding cats! Lets face it, the bad rap that social websites get is probably well deserved. So being able to manage your image or brand, in a commercial sense, is key to being legitimate.

But here we are, jumping in head first! If you are interested in the new Northend Facebook group click here!

For more about all of these media types and how to blend them, visit my Print Mixer website for Social Networking tutorials and information.
